ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES

JOB DESCRIPTIONS (Section 800)

ADMINISTRATION

801 Director of Communications

Responsible To: Superintendent
Goal: Communicate the organization's core values in order to cultivate a more Christ-honoring school community.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Collaborate with SAC administrators to develop a strategic communications plan.
  3. Oversee Development of content for this plan in consultation with the SAC administrators.
  4. Implement the communications plan.
  5. Ensure that the school websites, including editorial content and design, are consistent and aligned with the system-wide communication plan.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree is preferred.
  3. Show recent evidence of professional growth.
  4. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.
  5. Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  6. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment at Morrison Academy.

Work Requirements:

802 Director of Educational Technology Services

Responsible To: Director of Learning
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Assist the Director of Learning with setting long-term technology priorities and vision as well as updating the system technology strategic plan.
  3. Oversee IT Specialist Staff.
  4. Support the site Educational Technology Coach(es) and information technology specialists as necessary.
    1. Troubleshoot technology problems and research solutions.
    2. Provide technical solutions and recommendations as needed.
    3. Solicit estimates for new hardware and software purchases.
  5. Plan and facilitate the System PL day job alike sessions for the educational technology coordinators. Oversee the day to day operations of system-wide software, hardware, subscriptions, and serve as the administrator for the school's networks. Outsource when necessary.
  6. Oversee and manage the system technology budgets and campus maintenance budgets.
  7. Touch base with Principals on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Have the appropriate interpersonal skills as well as experience working and coordinating other technology personnel in a consensus building decision-making.
  3. Have successful experience in working with: PowerSchool, Mastery Connect, Google Workspaces, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Coldfusion programming, java, mysql, Windows OS, Linux OS, Mac OS, ipads, chromebooks, chromecast, network security, wifi, routers, switches, vlans, network configuration and troubleshooting, Internet protocols, TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT, IP subnetting.
  4. Networking certification or teaching certification preferred.
  5. Experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and repair.
  6. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

  8. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment.

Work Requirements:

  1. 40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week, prorated according to the contracted FTE.
  2. For the Director of Educational Technology Services, the maximum is .5 FTE
  3. The Director of ETS also teaches at least one class (.17 FTE). Teacher FTE is calculated separately from the Director of ETS FTE.
  4. Voluntary involvement in co-curricular activities is encouraged and needed.
  5. Teacher work days as specified on the school calendar. The Director of Learning may require an additional week of work before and one week after the teacher work year. Compensation for these extra days will be calculated on an hourly basis, according to the Temporary Workers Wage Schedule, up to 8 hours a day.
  6. This job requires travel to other campuses.

803 Director of Finance

Responsible To: Superintendent
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Assist with the development and regular review of financial/operational policies and procedures.
  3. Manage the financial/operational affairs of Morrison Academy, in accordance with Board approved policies and procedures.
  4. Work with site-level administrators and staff to implement and maintain appropriate procedures for handling the finances and carrying out the operations of the Academy.
  5. Securely maintain legal documents, school chops, and other valuable documents.
  6. Serve as the financial advisor to the Board of Trustees.
  7. Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget and any revisions, and also present the budget to the Board of Trustees.
  8. Serve as a member of Board-level committees, as designated in policy, and serve on any other committee/task force assigned by the Board of Trustees and/or by the Superintendent.
  9. Keep the System's legal relationships current, supplying necessary reports and information to legal counsel and governmental agencies.
  10. Serve on the System Administrative Council.
  11. Be responsible for the presentation of monthly financial and enrollment reports to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
  12. Be responsible for contracting with a qualified auditing firm to conduct the annual audit and then, with the Superintendent's approval, to implement appropriate recommendations from the management letter.
  13. Be responsible for maintaining adequate insurance coverage.
  14. Facilitate land purchases and land sales which are in the best interests of the Academy.
  15. Coordinate major construction projects of the Academy.
  16. Determine fees for the renting of the Academy's facilities to responsible outside organizations/individuals.
  17. Be responsible for the employee payroll.
  18. Supervise those employees under his/her authority.
  19. Assume other responsibilities, as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  3. Have accounting and/or fiscal management experience.
  4. Possess conversational level of Mandarin Chinese.

  7. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

804 Director of Human Resources

Responsible To: Superintendent
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Stay abreast of research regarding recruitment and orientation issues.
  3. Oversee the recruitment of personnel.
  4. Oversee New Staff Orientation and follow up of expatriate staff.
  5. Be a resource for the principals with on-site orientation.
  6. Encourage staff to develop a missionary partner relationship.
  7. Serve on the System Administrative Council.
  8. Establish procedures for new staff housing and host/mentor programs.
  9. Maintain standards for new staff housing, furnishings, and cleanliness. Coordinate the preparation of housing units for new staff in cooperation with the Housing Coordinators.
  10. Coordinate host and/or mentor program for new staff in consultation with Principals and Boarding Supervisor.
  11. Coordinate planning and authorization for logistics such as shipping personal effects, airport pick-up, school registration for dependent children, and emergency contacts.
  12. Maintain current copies of staff credentials. Notify employees when renewal is due.
  13. As directed by the Superintendent, process contracts for expatriate staff and distribute. Keep an accurate accounting of contracts returned.
  14. Maintain current expatriate personnel records.
  15. As assigned by the Superintendent, assume other administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Administrative experience is preferred.
  3. Possess good interpersonal skills.
  4. A Masters degree in Human Resource is preferred.
  5. Experience and training in cross-cultural transition is preferred.
  6. Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  7. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.
  8. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

Work Requirements:

  1. Teacher workdays as specified on the school calendar, plus roughly two weeks preceding the first day of the students' school year and two weeks at new staff orientation during the summer.
  2. 35 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week. (This is less than a normal 40 hour work week because of the additional weeks of work required during the summer.)

805 Director of Learning

Responsible To: Superintendent
Goal: Advance the vision for a Christ-centered professional learning community and allocate resources to support the SIP.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Stay abreast of research regarding teaching methodologies, teaching strategies, and curriculum development.
  3. Oversee curriculum development.
    • Supervise the curriculum review process
    • Supervise the development and maintenance of curriculum guides.
    • Assist principals in developing strategies to ensure the fidelity of the written curriculum.
    • Administer the acquisition and distribution of textbooks, software, and other resources which support the curriculum.
    • Interpret and review curriculum development procedures (100-149)
    • Serve as the curriculum advisor to the Board of Trustees.
  4. Oversee professional learning of certified staff
    • Coordinate school-wide training and in-service for full days, half days, and CPT.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate professional learning resources.
    • Oversee registration, travel, and accommodations for on/ off-island professional learning programs.
    • Interpret and review professional learning procedures (150-199)
  5. Collaborate with the Director of Finance to provide professional learning opportunities for non-instructional staff.
  6. Serve on the System Administrative Council.
  7. Coordinate the placement of student teachers, in consultation with principals.
  8. Oversee the completion of annual accreditation reports and school-wide appraisal system. Coordinate school accreditation visits and follow-up.
  9. Oversee the school-wide responsibilities of all the system coordinators (learning specialists and health).
  10. Oversee the Director of Information Technology Services in setting technology priorities and implementing technology initiatives.
  11. Arrange for one of the Learning Specialists to secure and schedule travel for a diagnostician for psycho-educational evaluations.
  12. As assigned by the Superintendent, assume other administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Administrative certification with a minimum of five years of teaching experience and documented administrative experience.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing curriculum.
  4. Experience in training teachers.
  5. A record of participation in appropriate job related professional development activities.
  6. A Masters degree in education is preferred.
  7. Completion of sufficient college course work in curriculum development.
  8. Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  9. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.
  10. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

806 Principal

Responsible To: Superintendent
Goal: Lead a Christ-centered collaborative learning community and manage resources in order to advance the effectiveness of the school.
Duties:

  1. Spiritual Leadership
    1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
    2. Clearly articulate to all constituents the spiritual mission of the school and enable staff and students to achieve that mission.
    3. Promote Christian service inside and outside the school community
  2. Instructional Leadership
    1. Ensure the fidelity of the written curriculum
    2. Seek to inspire teachers to maximize student learning
    3. Oversee the site’s professional development program
    4. Oversee the implementation of effective discipline
    5. Collaborate with other administrators to facilitate system-wide improvement
  3. Personnel Leadership
    1. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to make hiring and re-hiring recommendations to the Superintendent
    2. Provide staff supervision
    3. Promote a caring community among staff
  4. School Administration
    1. Administer the school in accordance with policies and procedures
    2. Oversee budgets and resource allocation
    3. Oversee proper stewardship of facilities
    4. Coordinate the development of the campus's master schedule and campus calendar.
    5. Oversee crisis management preparation and implementation, in consultation with the Superintendent
  5. Community Relations
    1. Oversee the admissions and registration process
    2. Coordinate campus public relations and fundraising activities
    3. Conduct regular Parent Advisory Committee meetings.
    4. Communicate frequently with all constituencies of the school
    5. Promote parental involvement in the school
  6. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of spiritual maturity as demonstrated by the fruit of the Spirit.
  3. Appropriate interpersonal and social skills when relating to students, parents, and teachers.
  4. Academic requirements including a Masters degree in an educational field and school administration certificate
  5. Administrative experience in an elementary, middle/junior high, and/or high school is preferred.
  6. Previous teaching experience.
  7. Have skills in goal setting, long-range planning, budgeting, curriculum, evaluation, assessment, and day-to-day operations oversight.
  8. Ability to maintain and carry out an effective discipline program.
  9. Intermediate level of spoken Mandarin Chinese language preferred.
  10. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.

FACULTY

810 Athletic Director - MS

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To provide a quality athletic program which is aligned with the philosophy and instructional goals of Morrison Academy.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Oversee and manage all middle school (MS) athletic programs in cooperation with the high school Athletic Director (AD).
  3. Recruit and oversee middle-school (MS) coaching staff and all other workers for the MS co-curricular sports program/competitions, ensuring that fundamentals are emphasized.
  4. Determine needs for MS athletic programs and utilize budget accordingly.
  5. Oversee and manage MS sports tournaments and other MS competitions on site.
  6. Annually create, review, and revise the Middle School Sports Handbook that aligns with the High School Sports Handbook and middle school philosophy.
  7. Have a coaches meeting at the beginning of each season to review expectations from Sports Handbook and TISSA. Ensure that every coach has a handout for his/her athletes that includes team rules and player expectations for games and practices.
  8. Communicate all games, tournaments, and logistical information in a timely manner to parents and athletes.
  9. Oversee the scheduling of games prior to each MS tournament.
  10. Represent school at all TISSA conference AD meetings.
  11. Assist coaches in keeping records for the MS athletic department.
  12. Model effective coaching by coaching at least one sport per year.

Qualifications:

  2. Have a valid teaching certificate.
  3. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

811 Athletic Director - High School

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To provide a quality athletic program which is aligned with the philosophy and instructional goals of Morrison Academy.

Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Oversee all high school athletic programs on campus in cooperation with the middle school Athletic Director (AD).
  3. Recruit and oversee coaching staff and all other workers needed for the high school co-curricular athletic program.
  4. Determine needs for high school athletic programs and allocate budget accordingly.
  5. Recruit and oversee staffing and logistics for high school sports tournaments/competitions held on site.
  6. Oversee the scheduling and publicizing of high school games in consultation with the principal(s) and/or responsible representatives of other schools/organizations involved.
  7. Ensures that information about all games, tournaments, and logistical information is communicated in a timely manner to parents and athletes.
  8. Review and revise the Sports Handbook annually. Review expectations from the Sports Handbook and TISSA and/or ACSC rules with high school coaches.
  9. Ensure that every coach has a handout for athletes that includes team rules, player expectations for games practices, tournament information, and contact information.
  10. Meet with coaches individually at the end of season to discuss the season and how to improve. (Suggest to use a standardized coaching evaluation form.)
  11. Assist coaches in keeping records and in enforcing the Athletic Department's philosophy and regulations.
  12. Ensure that co-curricular sports participants meet eligibility requirements.
  13. Fulfill the Teacher job description, if the Athletic Director has teaching responsibilities.
  14. Represent the high school at TISSA and (if applicable) ACSC AD meetings.
  15. Oversee the use of the athletic facilities/equipment in coordination with the MS AD.
  16. Other athletic requirements as assigned by the Principal.
  17. Model effective coaching by coaching at least one sport per year.

Qualifications:

813 Boarding Supervisor

Responsible To: Superintendent
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Routinely communicate with the Taichung High School Principal.
  3. Oversee the application process of new boarding students. Interview parents and boarding students. Direct an information meeting regarding the dorm with parents in Kaohsiung and Taipei.
  4. Be available to consult with boarding students and parents in accordance with the peacemaker procedure.
  5. Attend System Administrative Council meetings when invited by the Superintendent.
  6. Investigate and authorize probation and suspension. Refer students to the Superintendent if revocation of dormitory residence should be considered.
  7. Encourage dorm parents to have effective communication with parents of boarding students.
  8. Facilitate a professional collaborative culture among dorm personnel.
  9. Evaluate the performance of all dorm personnel, and review performance with each one, at least once each year, on the basis of their job descriptions, performance rubrics, objectives, and goals. The annual objectives and goals are developed by the individual dorm's personnel unit in consultation with the Boarding Supervisor.
  10. Prepare, coordinate, submit, and oversee boarding division budgets; allocate budget responsibilities as appropriate.
  11. Maintain and update dorm parent and boarding student handbooks which are aligned with the policies and procedures.
  12. Chair Boarding Advisory Committee meetings.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Prefer previous dorm experience and/or have older children of their own.
  3. Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  4. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.
  5. Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  6. Meet necessary ROC government requirements for employment.

Work Requirements:

  1. Hours will be determined as necessary; normally a maximum of 0.2FTE.
  2. Teacher workdays as specified on the school calendar. One week preceding teacher prep week is required when there are new boarding employees. Compensation for these extra days will be calculated on an hourly basis, according to the Temporary Workers Wage Schedule, up to 8 hours a day.
  3. Oversight of essential dorm administration during holidays and summer vacation.

815 Chaplain (ES, MS or HS)

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Support students in becoming disciples of Christ.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Provide pastoral care to students by associating with them, counseling with them, encouraging them, empathizing with them, mentoring them, etc.
  3. Oversee and participate in student spiritual growth programs/activities.
  4. Coordinate and oversee student discipleship ministries.
  5. Oversee the planning of chapels and Spiritual Life Weeks.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  3. Have a teaching certificate or be working toward certification.
  4. Demonstrated ability in relating to and maintaining good personal relationships with adolescents.
  5. The ability to relate well to children from non-American homes and to understand life issues facing “third culture” children.
  6. A graduate degree in theology, missions, or some other Christian field is preferred.
  7. A conversational level in spoken Mandarin or Taiwanese is preferred.
  8. Experience in working and counseling with young people in youth ministry or children's ministry is preferred.
  9. Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.
  10. Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  11. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.

Work Requirements:

  1. 40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week for a full-time (1.0FTE) contract.
  2. For the Chaplain role, the maximum FTE is:
    1. MAC High School 0.6
    2. MAK and MAT High School 0.4
    3. Middle School 0.2
    4. Elementary School 0.2
  3. A Chaplain may only be assigned to a maximum of two divisions (ES/MS/HS).
  4. Normally, a Chaplain also teaches at least one Bible class. Teacher FTE is calculated separately from Chaplain FTE.
  5. Teacher workdays as specified on the school calendar.

816 Department Leader - High School

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To support faculty by leading focused, relevant, student-focused discussion about classroom practice.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Initiate team meetings to promote cross-curricular experiences that enhance student learning as well as alignment between classroom practice and curriculum procedures.
  3. In cooperation with Learning Coach, support teachers by leading discussions on best practices that relate to system and site goals.
  4. Confer with the Principal concerning the fidelity of the curriculum, the operation of the department, the assignment of teachers, the maintenance and ordering of departmental resources, and utilization of the departmental budget.
  5. Seek to coordinate/collaborate with other department leaders in order to develop further curricular integration.
  6. Supervise, coordinate, and keep files on the co-curricular activities of the department.
  7. Other duties may be assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Teaching certification with a minimum of three years of teaching experience. Master s degree highly preferred.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in implementing curriculum.
  4. A record of participation in appropriate, job related professional development activities.
  5. Experience with peer coaching and mentoring.
  6. Demonstrate evidence of spiritual leadership and maturity.
  7. Demonstrate leadership qualities both in and out of the classroom including the exhibition of appropriate interpersonal and social skills when relating to students, parents, and teachers.
  8. Have previous teaching experience at Morrison Academy.
  9. Have skills in management, budgeting, curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.
  10. Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.

Work Requirements: Will be determined as necessary.
Salary Range: Counts toward half a period equivalent time (i.e. a duty) commitment responsibility according to procedure 517 FTE.

817 Dormitory Parent

Responsible To: Boarding Supervisor
Goal: Establish and maintain a comfortable, Christian home style environment in the dormitory.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Develop positive, loving care such as would be found in a Christ-centered home.
  3. Provide appropriate moral, social, spiritual, and physical training in cooperation with parents.
  4. Facilitate good communication with students. Remain available to students while on duty.
  5. Promote good study habits and provide a quiet study environment.
  6. Exercise flexibility and understanding in the care of individual students within the context of the group living environment.
  7. Conduct group devotions, pursue opportunities for discipleship, and provide appropriate discipline when necessary.
  8. Encourage and organize group building activities.
  9. Consistently administer established dormitory rules, and routines, e.g. bed time, free time, etc.
  10. Build trusting partnerships with parents by keeping them informed of their child's progress and involving them in decision-making.
  11. Assist with menu planning, manage the “Family Meal” in their dorm, and promote a positive reputation for the dormitory food services.
  12. Teach and encourage students to develop a healthy lifestyle, e.g. hygiene and adequate sleep, etc.
  13. Assist students in time of sickness.
  14. Other duties as assigned by the Boarding Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Work Requirements:

  1. Dorm parents are generally on duty when the dorm is open.
  2. Release time is limited to:
    1. Most school days from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM
    2. One regular day off per week, not to exceed eight consecutive dorm open hours
    3. Three additional days per quarter, not to exceed eight consecutive dorm open hours and approved by the Boarding Supervisor
    4. Three Personal Leave days as defined by procedure 784, up to 24 hours per day
  3. The work year is defined by the Morrison academic calendar, including weekends, with the exception of No Activity Weekends defined by the Dorm Handbook. Duty begins for the dormitory parent at 4:00 PM the last day of a school vacation.
  4. The Availability section of the Dorm Parent Handbook provides additional parameters on the activities in which dormitory parents may participate and time that dorm parents can cover for each other.
  5. Dorm parenting requires continuous interaction with teenagers so it is essential for dorm staff to have adequate energy during dorm hours. Therefore Morrison reserves the right to restrict the outside responsibilities of dorm parents even during their free time in accordance with procedure 517. Furthermore, Morrison reserves the right to require dorm parents to hire childcare or house helpers at their own expense if the dorm parents have large families (more than 3 children). Adoption of a child can require a great deal of extra time), so adopting a child while being a dorm parent will only be allowed if the Boarding Supervisor and the Superintendent agree.

818 Educational Technology Coach (ETC)

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Support faculty and students in applying technology to enhance learning.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Schedule regular opportunities to collaborate with teachers to implement the integration of technology in accordance with Information Technology Procedure 217.
  3. Collaborate regularly with other members of the Innovation Team (ETCs, ITSs, Library-Media Specialists, and Learning Coaches) to actively seek implementation of innovation and technology initiatives in accordance with the Morrison Technology Plan and the Principal’s priorities.
  4. Collaborate with other Education Technology Coaches, the Director of Learning, and the Director of Educational Technology Services.
  5. Manage campus educational tech coach budget effectively.
  6. Provide training and implement campus protocols for the operation of audiovisual (AV) equipment.
  7. Support teachers with grading technology in collaboration with Learning Coaches.
  8. Coach, train, and support teachers in Google Workspace and promote Google Educator Certification.
  9. Support on-campus student technology- literacy and digital citizenship.
  10. Support ISTE Standard implementation as stated in our Tech Guide.
  11. Continue professional development and use time to research current innovation and educational practices.
  12. Principals may assign instructional or additional duties within the limitations of assigned FTE.

819 School Counselor - Elementary and Middle School

Responsible To: Principal
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Provide services for students that include: Teaching guidance classes/activities at each grade level, K-8, using the Guidance curriculum with strong emphasis on Biblical values. A task is to evaluate and recommend any curricular changes for at least one grade level every year.
  3. Being involved with students through a variety of means. These may include:
    1. teaching quarter-courses and helping in the design of the program
    2. coaching after-school sports
    3. eating lunch with students
    4. being present where students are during breaks, recesses, before and after school
    5. working with students on special events as the school counselor's time permits, i.e. Spirit Week, parties, Student Council, etc.
  4. Being available to meet with individual students and small groups, as needed or if requested by the principal; and monitoring the progress of any student(s) on probation, if requested by the principal.
  5. Monitoring carefully the adjustment of new students and helping prepare those who are leaving.
  6. Provide services for teachers that include:
    1. Consulting with teachers, as requested by the teacher and/or principal.
    2. Being available to present at staff meetings, teacher workshops, etc. on topics of interest to teachers and/or of benefit to students, as organized/in conjunction with the principal. Topics might include:
      1. academic, social, intellectual, and moral development and/or issues
      2. school/classroom climate; classroom management/discipline, etc.
      3. achievement test use/interpretation.
  7. Provide services for parents that include:
    1. Working with the librarian to build, keep current, and make available a limited library of helpful books, periodicals and tapes; and encourage the reading of these by reviews in school newsletters and other means.
    2. Being willing to listen to parents and then carefully refer them to the appropriate teacher/administrator.
    3. Conducting a needs assessment to determine parental concerns. Results would be followed up through special meetings, support groups, articles in the newsletter, individual conferences, staff reports/seminars, etc.
    4. Being available to counsel with parents, as requested or as need is identified.
    5. Maintaining a referral file of available professional counseling/guidance services, especially those in Taiwan, and facilitating referrals as needed.
  8. Respond to request from home school families in accordance with procedure 290.
  9. Provide services for the administration that include:
    1. Working closely with the principal and any support services personnel regarding LN students and services. Included in this might be:
      1. monitoring the progress of these students
      2. meeting with parents
      3. making recommendations to the principal
    2. Attending staff meetings, as directed by the principal.
    3. Meeting with the principal on a regular basis in order to provide feedback, discuss program, confer about and pray for individual students, and/or receive direction.
    4. Managing and/or coordinating the local standardized testing program(s), as requested by the principal (i.e. annual achievement tests, admissions tests, individual testing, etc.), and being aware of what tests are available.
  10. The EMS School Counselor will not normally function as a substitute teacher or as a school disciplinarian.

Duties:

    1. providing information regarding college & career selections
    2. administering various career inventory tests
    3. assisting with college applications, transcripts, recommendations, etc.
    4. hosting college representatives and providing for the necessary logistics

    6. Meet with individual families during their child’s junior year to discuss starting the college search process

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Support teachers in a collaborative learning community
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Assist the Principal in:
    1. Planning and implementing the professional learning programs that support Procedure 156.
    2. Promoting teacher leadership and collaboration.
    3. Supporting teachers with their professional practice review (PPR) goals.
    4. Standards-based education procedures that support Procedure 105.
    5. Facilitating the mentoring program for all new teachers.
    6. Coordinating student-teacher experiences once the placement is confirmed.
    7. Developing parent communication and workshops that support the SIP.
  3. Meet regularly with the Director of Learning and other Learning Coaches to plan professional learning meetings in accordance with PL Schedule Procedure 156 and Accreditation Procedure 145.
  4. Meet with the principal regularly to prioritize and organize professional learning activities that align with the school improvement plan.
  5. Spend time each week in scheduled classroom partnerships (assistance, not formal observations). The goals of these partnerships are to engage with student learning and effective teaching. This support and coaching includes:
    1. Standards-based planning of units
    2. Alignment of resources to standards
    3. Alignment of assessments to standards
    4. Closing the achievement gap through formative data and summative data
    5. Planning and improving the structure of reassessment cycles

Goal: Organize interventions for struggling students who are not meeting their academic potential, particularly in reading and math.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Assist parents and teachers in understanding the learning needs of students needing extra support to meet classroom expectations and in understanding how to modify or accommodate for individual learning needs. Observe and evaluate these students and keep documentation about findings of observations.
  3. Organize and lead intervention team and ARD meetings.
  4. Monitor student progress when interventions are implemented.
  5. Assist teachers, principals and others to identify and serve students with identified special needs,
  6. Work collaboratively with parents and staff to determine the need for intervention and assist in developing an IEP, as needed.
  7. Assist teachers and principals in annually reviewing IEPs, as needed.
  8. Provide pull-out and inclusion instructional services according to the IEPs.
  9. Assure that all special needs intervention team and ARD files are kept organized and confidential as defined in LN procedures (281 & 283).

824 System Diagnostician/Learning Needs (LN) Coordinator

Responsible To: Director of Learning
Goal: To be responsible for the coordination of Morrison’s special education process from screening through identification (including providing or coordinating outside testing), Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development, and placement to ensure appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Coordinate special education processes, programs, and diagnostic procedures.
  3. Provide or coordinate on-campus testing and evaluation of potential learning needs students in accordance with procedures 281 and 283.
  4. Create documentation, monitor, advocate, and maintain caseloads of Learning Specialists for each campus.
  5. Perform and monitor evaluation and timelines to ensure appropriate student placement.
  6. Assist the Director of Learning and Learning Specialists in researching and/or implementing new program components.
  7. Meet and work with Learning Specialists, regular classroom teachers, administrators, parents and other campus and non-campus professionals as needed to determine student:
    • initial eligibility using established criteria
    • learning needs services and support
    • reevaluations and/or review of existing evaluation data as determined
    • maintenance of confidential diagnostic files, records and rosters
    • other advisory and support duties.

838 Executive Assistant - Superintendent

Goal: To support the Board and Superintendent
Duties:

  2. Open, sort, and distribute mail.
  3. Process all correspondence, dictation, reports, memos, announcements, etc. and distribute as necessary.
  4. Schedule appointments for the Superintendent, making sure that his/her own desk calendar can accommodate such appointments. Monitor “flow of traffic” to help insure that the Superintendent's daily schedule experiences as few interruptions as possible.
  5. Maintain current personnel records that use Chinese language. This includes:
    1. maintaining the personnel records (Access program)
    2. keeping work permits up to date
    3. keeping Chinese service records up to date
  6. Maintain a complete record of Board Minutes, System Records, and related documents. These documents will also be included in Board packets.
  7. As directed by the Superintendent, process national contracts and distribute. Keep an accurate accounting of contracts returned.

  9. Process all VISA paperwork for expatriate employees and off-island students throughout the Morrison system.

  2. Support the campus principal in the implementation of the student admissions procedures regarding the admission of new students (#240) and student transfers within the Morrison system (#241).
  3. Facilitate the admissions process for prospective families, from initial inquiries through formal admission.
  4. Lead tour for prospective families or train other people to lead these tours.
  5. Maintain the admissions section of the Student Management System.
  6. Coordinate admissions testing for prospective students.
  7. Collaborate with the Director of Finance in the processing of applications for Missionary (policy #1613) and Christian Worker (policy #1614) status for prospective families.
  8. Collaborate with the other Admissions Coordinators.
  9. Maintain the accuracy of campus-specific admissions items on the school website.

  2. Coordinate and oversee the advisory program for the middle school and/or high school.
  3. Provide advisory staff with training during “teacher prep week”.

  6. Collaboration with advisory coordinators of other campuses.

Goal: To cultivate constructive relationships between the school, alumni and parents.
Duties may include:

  2. Develop, organize, and host social events for alumni.
  3. Maintain and update the Alumni Database.
  4. Collaborate with campus counselors to develop and promote alumni events.
  5. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to create promotion materials to be used at alumni events. All materials should align with the school’s mission and goals. The Director of Communications must approve the final version of printed materials and videos to ensure consistency among the campuses.
  6. Collaborate with PR Managers to aid in fundraising and promoting the school with alumni.
  7. Liaise with alumni and parents when situations arise in order to communicate accurate information and reassure alumni and parents that the school is taking appropriate action. Responsible To: Immediate Supervisor
Goal: To accurately process cash and investment transactions for receipts, payments, and transfers.
Duties:

  2. Receive all cash and negotiable instruments, to issue appropriate receipts, and to record them in the proper account.
  3. Issue all payments on behalf of the school.

Duties:

  2. Substitute for one set of dormitory parents one day per week.
  3. Substitute for dormitory parents three additional days per quarter or arrange for a staff member to substitute as directed by the Boarding Supervisor.
  4. In consultation with the dormitory parents; while on duty be actively involved with dormitory students, i.e. attending functions, helping with homework, eating together, etc.

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Support faculty and students by coordinating educational experiences outside the classroom to enhance learning.
Duties:

  2. Partner with teachers and outside agencies to develop trip itineraries that promote experiential learning.
  3. Engage in ongoing communication with teachers who are directly involved with experiential learning trips.
  4. Recommend and arrange chaperones.
  5. Plan housing, meals, transportation, insurance, travel documents, and ticketing for everyone going on Impact Program trips.
  6. Organize trip budgets.
  7. Plan fundraising activities to raise support for trips.
  8. Investigate new sites/trips as needed.
  9. Act as a resource for all trips done with through the school.
  10. Work with relevant grades levels in EMS or HS to implement programs.
  11. Conduct risk assessments for experiential learning trips, particularly regarding risks of severe harm to students.

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To coordinate and supervise specific school activities to ensure smooth operations.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Recognize and practice the fact that this job is a service oriented position which means being available and that there are often interruptions; a first responsibility is to help others.
  3. Provide for the appropriate upkeep, care, and appearance of the facilities, the equipment, and the site continually working toward improvement.
  4. Serve as the purchasing agent for locally purchased supplies and equipment getting appropriate bids and/or the best price for the quality needed; do comparative shopping through phone and personal travel so as to know availability; on larger projects get three bids if possible.
  5. Work closely with and work through the mid-level supervisors involving them in supervision and consulting with them frequently for opinions and advice.
  6. Develop positive relationships with the operations' staff - talk with each one frequently, communicate clearly (orally & in writing), check often on the quality of work, supervise efficiently and evaluate fairly/objectively based on job description.
  7. Be responsible for recommending the hiring and releasing of the outsourced staff (i.e. cleaning personnel, gardeners, guards, drivers) to the Principal.
  8. Identify needs and make recommendations to the Principal; meet with him/her regularly to discuss campus management situations, change ideas and campus development.
  9. Serve as a middleman and as translator for the Principal, as the need arises. The General Manager also serves as a resource person to the Principal on issues relating to outsourced staff.

Responsible To: Director of Communications
Goal: Prepare visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts.
Duties may include:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Design and prepare clear engaging graphic communications for print and web that align with the school’s mission and goals. This will include but is not limited to: newsletters, branded promotional items, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed.
  3. In collaboration with designated school staff members, assist with development, organizing, and production of school publications.
  4. Maintain system-wide Branding Handbook and encourage consistent use of branding throughout the system.
  5. Collaborate with school personnel on ensuring the website is graphically sound.

Responsible To: Principal (or designee)
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Coordinate annual health screening at the site.
  3. Maintain medical resource lists.
  4. Consult and advise site staff on matters of health concerns.
  5. Assist teachers with health curriculum implementation.
  6. Collect, review, and post required health forms in Powerschool.
  7. Send notices to students whose immunizations are not up to date.
  8. Encourage good health habits and safety through normal communication channels.
  9. Maintain an appropriately stocked health clinic.
  10. Provide nursing care and/or advice for students, as needed, and refer to a doctor when necessary.
  11. Provide first aid to students with minor medical needs.
  12. Accompany students to the hospital when emergency medical care is required, or arrange for parent or guardian to accompany the student.
  13. Make written reports to the principal when students are involved in accidents.
  14. Arrange for a nurse to be on call during all on-campus athletic tournaments and arrange for hourly payment for those on duty.

858 Housing Coordinator

Responsible To: General Manager

Goal: Manage faculty housing owned or leased by the school.

Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Coordinate the selection process for off-campus, school-managed housing in consultation with the Director of Finance, in compliance with Procedure 447 - School-managed Housing.
  3. For managed housing units not owned by the school:
    1. In consultation with the Director of Finance, negotiate and sign lease contracts
    2. Serve as the middleman between the landlord and the Morrison employee tenant.
    3. Arrange for lease payments for school managed housing not owned by the school.
  4. Make arrangements for utilities, furnishings and appliances in school managed housing units in collaboration with the Director of Finance and in accordance with Procedure 760 - Housing Benefit.
  5. Prepare housing unit for new staff in accordance with the “New Staff Handbook”.
  6. Enforce the terms of the Housing Use Agreement between the school and the tenant.
  7. Conduct an inspection of the premises with the tenant at the beginning and end of occupancy to document any damage to appliances and/or facility and to approve that the apartment is ready to be vacated.
  8. Serve as the middleman if necessary in order to resolve disputes between tenants. Select some tenants to form a housing committee, if appropriate, to handle building-specific community issues. Refer irreconcilable issues to the Director of Finance for arbitration.
  9. Respond to written maintenance requests related to Morrison managed housing, personally conduct simple repairs, and make arrangements for maintenance contractors whenever necessary.
  10. Evaluate when renovations beyond routine maintenance are necessary (e.g. bathroom/kitchen hardware) and research options and timeline to complete.
  11. Manage the faculty housing maintenance budget in consultation with the Director of Finance, in compliance with Procedure 308 Expenditure Authorization.
  12. As assigned, maintain thorough records of each school managed housing unit, including but not limited to contracts, Housing Use Agreements, documentation of inspections, maintenance and repair records.

  2. Regularly inspect and report on condition of school and managed housing facility.
  3. Perform or oversee all emergency, routine, and preventative maintenance tasks. This includes making arrangement, directing, and inspecting tasks done by vendors that could not be completed by school staff or can be done more economically by a vendor.
  4. Coordinate and/or participate in construction projects.
  5. Maintain positive relationships with school staff, volunteers, vendors, contracted company workers, and students. Work as an active participant on a maintenance team.
  6. Provide courier service as needed and approved by the supervisor.
  7. Complete other projects and activities, as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  3. Monitor students’ weekly progress; communicating regularly with students.
  4. Communicate as needed with the high school counselor, principal, and business office regarding progress of students and online fees.
  5. Help students access courses and contact teachers as needed.
  6. Create and update online forms.
  7. Stay up to date with newsletters from Sevenstar/FLVS, research regarding pertinent course options, and filling out surveys from online providers.
  8. Arrange exam times and logistics, proctor exams and consolidate grades.

874 Public Relations Manager

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To cultivate constructive relationships between the school, parents, and the local community.
Duties may include:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Liaise with parents, parent groups, and school administration concerning school programs in a clear, concise, and timely fashion. If parents express concerns about individual teachers or students they should be encouraged to follow the peacemaker procedure (#502).
  3. Design and prepare materials to be used for promotion of school that align with the school’s mission and goals. The Director of Communications must approve the final version of printed materials and videos to ensure consistency among the campuses.
  4. Serve as the liaison between the school and news media, including writing and distributing press releases regarding school events and student achievements to targeted media. The Director of Communications must approve the releases to ensure consistency among the campuses.
  5. In collaboration with designated school staff member, assist with development, organizing, and production of social events that promote interaction between parents and the school staff.
  6. Participate on Parents Advisory Committee (PAC).
  7. Promote system fundraising programs.
  8. Liaise with parents when situations arise in order to communicate accurate information and reassure parents that the school is taking appropriate action.
  9. Recruit parent volunteers to welcome parents who are new to the community and offer orientation tours of the school and/or city.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Goal: Facilitate continuous school improvement by coordinating data collection, analysis, documentation, and reporting for the accreditation process.

    1. Organize the planning and evaluation process related to the School Improvement Plan. Compile and disseminate reports to stakeholders and accrediting agencies.

    3. Document that the school has responded to past major recommendations from accrediting agencies.
    4. Document the school's compliance with accreditation standards.

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To guide, mentor, and assist high school students through a wide variety of student activities.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Oversee the high school’s student council
  3. Oversee student council budget, including fundraising and spending.
  4. Oversee student government, including all student officer elections and class officer supervision and eligibility.
  5. Provide mentoring, supervisory, and resource services for students.
  6. Oversee all student activities, including banquets and other events sponsored by student government.
  7. Oversee and approve all student clubs as well as maintain effective communication between club leaders and the principal.

Qualifications:

  3. Ability in relating to and maintaining good personal relationships with adolescents.

880 Summer Guest Room & Conference Coordinator

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To coordinate the use of the Taichung campus for conferences by missions and other outside groups during the summer months.
Duties:

  1. Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  2. Confirm dates, space needs, and equipment of each group at least one month in advance.
  3. Ask principals, the Boarding Supervisor, and maintenance department which rooms will not be available for use by summer conferences.
  4. Oversee reservation and cleaning services for the dorm guest rooms from graduation until two weeks prior to the first day of classes.
  5. Recruit workers, supervise, and assist with the cleaning of the dorms before and after each conference. Inform the General Manager of cleaning needs of other facilities by janitors.
  6. Arrange for furniture and equipment to be moved as necessary. Secure any breakable or vulnerable pieces of equipment (i.e. phones, TV, etc.). Arrange for furniture and equipment to be returned to original location after conference.
  7. Arrange for keys for conference users.
  8. Arrange for audio visual assistant for the auditorium.
  9. Coordinate pool reservations with the Athletic Director.
  10. Remain available to conference leader during the entire time they are on campus.
  11. Arrange for one maintenance person to be available.
  12. Before the summer, discuss menu selection, meal time and meal order numbers with Food Service Director and conference leaders. Confirm meal prices with the outsourced food service company. Inform the outsource food service company of the meal order numbers at least one week before the conference. Confirm billing information with and process payment to the food service company.
  13. Compile room use reports and food service charges, and issue a bill to the conference leader and a copy to the Business Office.
  14. Direct and supervise all student work on behalf of conferences.
  15. Communicate to each conference leader the rules and guidelines for using school facilities.
  16. Inform guards of conference activities.
  17. Oversee dorm vans reservations.

  3. Order swimming pool supplies and pool facilities' supplies as needed.
  4. Ensure that up-to-date swimming pool hours and swimming lessons are within the established guidelines and procedures of the school.
  5. Arrange for the scheduling of pool hours and swimming lessons.
  6. Hire and supervise qualified lifeguards, swimming instructors, and maintenance personnel.
  7. Designate head lifeguards.
  8. Arrange the time schedules of the swimming pool personnel.
  9. Prepare an annual swimming pool budget in conjunction with developing the annual budget and submit it to the Athletic Director.
  10. Make necessary arrangements for groups scheduling the pool outside of regular pool hours.
  11. Schedule, make arrangements for, and supervise swimming lessons as necessary.
  12. Ensure that Morrison established accounting procedures are followed and maintained for swimming pool entrance receipts, operations costs maintenance/repair costs, and payroll.

    1. Assist individual students and/or groups who need additional help.
    2. Listen to reading groups.
    3. Assist the classroom teacher, technology coordinator and/or librarian with research projects.
    4. Assist with guided practice checking.
    5. Help prepare/type students' stories/articles, quizzes, tests, project guidelines, etc.
    6. Check classroom papers, workbooks, etc.
    7. Photocopy classroom materials.

Goal: Maintain the school website of all campuses.
Duties:

  2. Collaborate routinely with the Director of Communications and the principals to ensure that the website is providing correct, up-to-date information for prospective families and its constituents.
  3. Coordinate production and website support.
  4. Generate and revise website.
  5. Ensure the website is running smoothly and efficiently.
  6. Evaluate and optimize site traffic.
  7. Promote the school website in cooperation with the Director of Information Technology Services to oversee infrastructure, maintenance, and support of technology.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  2. Demonstrate professional level of expertise regarding web design, WordPress, HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative professional relationships.
  4. Have knowledge in HTML/CSS.
  5. Bilingual is preferable.

Work Requirements:

  • 30-40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week.
  • Voluntary involvement in co-curricular activities is encouraged and needed.
